HI THERE
This little project will come together nicely with time, and a quite large story or picture will unfold. A website seems a good tool to sort it all into some order for presentation.
 
It would be nice to have copies of photographs or any pertinent information that relates to the Lake, Oueroa or Rotokare farm, and surrounding area.
 
A History of the area was written for my father by J.D.H. Buchanan and was finished in May 1957 (Mr Buchanan was the author of The Maori History and Place Names of Hawkes Bay, published later in 1973), and this 1957 work was entitled, Maori Place Names of the Rahuirua District, H.B.. I have rather a poor quality photo-copy of it, and also made a copy for the Napier Museum Historical section, but the original I had lent to a Mr Dick (R.E.) Clark, who lived at The Rise (the big old house behind where the Chocolate Factory now is), near the Waiohiki Golf Links. When he passed on, the original work of Buchanan's was never seen again. So I assume that if it was not discarded, that some member of his family may know of its whereabouts - (would like to think that it comes home.)
